2012 Mountains to Beach stage 5/6 - Day 2

The third race stage is normally a climbers dream with plenty of steep and long climbs. This year with a rework of the race route due to the amount of water around meant the 400m vertical climb turned into a 700m climb. After the pace car left us Shuan attacked off the front while a small group formed. The next climb split the group of Ed snapped his chain leaving Andy, Dylan and myself. During the 700m climb Dylan and I caught up to Shaun whilst Andy dropped off the back. The 3 of us finished within 30 seconds. Marty from Pacific Surveys in Port Macquarie offered free dinner for me and my crew if I won the stage which was enough motivation for me!
